Corn Tree Flower

Our corn tree, which we bought over 10 years ago, sprouted a flower!  I had no idea that this type of plant even flowered. After looking it up we found out that it is rare for a domestic corn tree to flower, but it can happen under the right conditions. We also found out that while the bloom is opening it can be very sappy and once the bloom fully opens the smell will be overwhelmingly powerful. It took a couple of weeks for the bloom to fully open, but when it did boy oh boy it sure did smell!!  The smell was like a REALLY strong awful cheap perfume. Anyhow, the bloom was quite beautiful and we left it on the tree right until it was almost fully opened - at which point it was promptly removed!

Nov. 23 - The bloom appears!
